Meet Maria Zosa, a name that echoes in the world of competitive freediving. How did she venture into this mesmerizing sport? In 2016, Maria discovered her knack for diving deeper than the National record (FIM). Encouraged to try her hand at competing, Maria embarked on a path that would redefine her life. Today, she shares her remarkable journey with us.

"Freediving is a tool that allows me to get to know myself better. You really have to be out there and experience it yourself." Maria recalls, her eyes shining with passion.

Becoming a National Athlete
As Maria's talent blossomed, so did her status as a national athlete. When asked about the experience, Maria humbly expresses, "Being a national athlete is both humbling and grounding. Representing my country in this incredible sport fills me with immense pride and a sense of responsibility."

Unleashing Motivation
What fuels Maria's unwavering dedication to freediving? "My motivation has always been my personal growth and progress in the sport. Witnessing my own improvement and pushing my limits is what keeps me going," she explains. It is this inner fire that drives Maria to achieve new heights, both in and out of the water.

The Multi-Talented Wonder
Beyond the depths, Maria possesses a kaleidoscope of interests and accomplishments. She proudly claims the title of the only Filipina Molchanovs Instructor Trainer to date, alongside being a Senior Yoga Teacher. When not immersed in her freediving pursuits, she can be found teaching in Thailand and the Philippines, sharing her wisdom with aspiring freedivers.

Maria's adventurous spirit also extends to her childhood dreams of being a motocross rider. Secretly nurturing this dream, she found her joy by taking a course with Honda in Phuket, igniting the kid within her. And if you thought Maria's diverse passions ended there, think again! Video games, shooting ranges, and a cherished Super Mario mushroom stuffed toy all find their place in her life, creating a well-rounded and fascinating persona.

Preparing for competitions often comes with its fair share of obstacles. For Maria, the biggest challenge lies in navigating the financial aspects. However, she tackles these challenges head-on, never allowing them to dampen her spirit. Maria's determination knows no bounds.
Finding Balance
Balancing the physical demands of freediving training while safeguarding against injury and burnout is no easy feat. Maria achieves this equilibrium by diligently following the training plan designed by her coach. This meticulous approach allows her to push herself while maintaining a healthy mind and body.
The Power of Teammates
Maria's teammates play a vital role in her journey. While she hasn't met some of them yet, she holds her fellow athletes, including Mika, Tracy, Ken, and Ramar, in high regard. Their shared passion and unwavering dedication make them exceptional individuals and a force to be reckoned with.

A Glimpse into the Future
Beyond the results and accolades, what does Maria hope to achieve at the end of this event? "Regardless of the outcome, my ultimate goal is to emerge as a better and stronger athlete. Growth is what matters most to me," Maria declares, her determination shining through.

In a heartfelt message to the current and future supporters of the team, Maria expresses her thoughts, "It would be incredible if we could receive support from the government. Such backing would not only uplift our spirits but also enable us to reach greater heights in our pursuit of excellence."
